Jerkwater Strut

Hot Mustard’s debut single, Jerkwater Strut, kicks off with wonky, off-kilter wah guitar and buzzy brass stabs over smooth bass arpeggios before dropping into a boom-bap, Wu anthem style crescendo and releasing into a soulful guitar solo sprinkled with sparse tape-delayed Hammond organ chops and garnished with subtle, smoky analog synth textures. The syrupy sweet melodies are expertly balanced by a fiery brass section led by Antibalas’ Jordan Mclean, leaving listeners banging their utensils on the table in anticipation of the next hot platter.
