“Black Friday” by Mo’ Gigs examines the commercial holiday from a different angle. With Muscle Shoals flavors and nostalgic storytelling in the same vein as Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind,” the track narrates what it’s like to get somebody at a proverbial discount rate while they’re hurt and down in spirits. In both the pursuit and unhealed emotional wounds, the same patterns repeat while cheapening a new bond and and thusly, that same loss is repeated. Mo’ Gigs brings their smoky and bluesy Hammond funk and soul by way Hungary and “Black Friday” is their first single released via Color Red.
