“Mardi Gras Day” is the first offering from the latest release via Eleven Music Experience's ‘Floki Sessions’ featuring George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds) Robert Walter (Greyboy Allstars), and Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power). The album was recorded at Floki Studios located down the valley of Eleven Experiences’ Deplar Farm in Troll Peninsula, Iceland. Robert Walter brought in this instrumental groove to the session and upon hearing it, Eddie was immediately transported to the sounds of The Wild Magnolias and other Mardi Gras Indian recordings of the ‘70s. After the initial session in Iceland, Eddie approached Big Chief Donald Harrison who is revered as an iconic jazz artist best known for being the horn counterpart of trumpeter Terrance Blanchard in the ‘80s lineup of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Additionally, Donald is currently the Chief of Congo Square in Afro-New Orleans Culture. Donald happened to be performing in Denver fall of 2022 and they seized the opportunity to get him into Color Red Studios to craft “Mardi Gras Day.” Eddie remembers Donald saying that there were no songs out there with “Mardi Gras Day” as the hook.. and the rest wrote itself. The full-length album will feature guest artist appearances by Erica Falls (Galactic), Son Little, Lamar Williams. Jr. (Trouble No More), Tierinii Jackson (Southern Avenue), Eric “Benny” Bloom (Lettuce), and rising Chicago artist GreenTTea.
