“Famous Last Words” is the title track off of True Loves’ 2017 debut LP. The song comes out of the gate with a crispy lick, catapulting the band into Earth, Wind & Fire meets The J.B.’s territory. Trombonist Jason Cressy wrote the tune while on tour with Odesza. As one of the more elaborate and developed tracks on the record, the standout tune features something for everyone with catchy horn melodies, deep pocket grooves, breakbeats, tight James Brown-esque horn stabs, a wide range of dynamics, and a slamming tenor saxophone solo by Gordon Brown. Following up the group’s 2021 sophomore LP ‘Sunday Afternoon,’ the digital single release celebrates ‘Famous Last Words’ being remastered and getting its second vinyl pressing via Color Red.
